Aloha!!!

Jaime and I made a trip to Hawaii to meet her cousin, Chris and his wife, Brooke. Chris and Brooke are expecting their first child next month and I figured it would be good experience for them...okay, I wanted to go to Hawaii :)

The following is a very long post of our trip with a few Mother's Day pictures posted at the end. It will take a long time to load because there are well over 100 pictures. Sorry about that but I pared it down from about 300 :)

The Trip

Jaime and I flew from Austin to Atlanta (yes, I know that's a little backward) then direct from Atlanta to Honolulu. What was supposed to be a 10 hour flight was hindered by the dreaded 20 mph headwinds and turned into an 11 hour flight (good thing it wasn't really windy!)

Jaime's turned into a good, little traveler and we had a great time as you will see.

We're going to Hawaii!!!! Posted by Hello

Hey, this is pretty good! Posted by Hello

What else is there to do? Posted by Hello

Oh, we are flying in an airplane, looking out the window, watching the clouds go by... (it's a Barney Song....we sang it all the way to Hawaii.) Posted by Hello

Culture Shock

I was fascinated by the difference in the culture. Even though Hawaii is part of the United States, it's...well..."like a whole other country" even more so than Texas, I think :) Even McDonald's had things I'd never heard of.

The "Local Breakfast" from McDonald's. Note the Spam. Chris said that Spam is very popular in Hawaii. I think I could get to like it there :) It also came with Portuguese Sausage, eggs, rice (yes, rice) and soy sauce. BTW, it was delicious. Posted by Hello

This is what's inside...yes, this really came from McDonald's. Not sure what we'd get if we ordered a "Local Breakfast" here but I'm betting this wouldn't be it :) Posted by Hello

Infamous Pearl Harbor...well, the sign at least :) Posted by Hello

The Likelike Highway...I only regret I didn't get a picture of the Wiki Wiki Bus Route (yes, that was really the name of it.) Posted by Hello

The sign outside Chris and Brooke's house. I think the Hawaiians and the Poles should get together. The Hawaiians use too many vowels and the Poles don't use enough :) Try saying "I'm at the corner of Makohilani and Lanikuhana" really fast, five times :) Posted by Hello

At Chris and Brooke's House

Chris and Brooke were kind enough to let us camp out at their house, saving Mommy a bundle. Chris informed me that the houses have neither air conditioning nor heat. Guess they don't need it :)

Playing with Chris the first day. They got along really well and Chris got some kid training. He'll be needing it soon :) Posted by Hello

You were right, Mommy, Chris is a lot like Uncle Greg! Posted by Hello

Playing "Monster" with Chris. It got pretty wild when Sandy, the dog, got involved :) Posted by Hello

Chris had it pretty easy. No chasing involved. He just stayed in one place and growled at Jaime when she came by :) Posted by Hello

I don't know who had more fun, Sandy or Jaime :) Posted by Hello

Five minutes...just five more minutes... Posted by Hello

No more "Monster." The dog would get really upset when we played it so we could only play when the dog was outside. Bummer. Posted by Hello

Brooke's preggy picture. Grandma said to take a lot of pictures. Blame it on her :) Posted by Hello

Uh-oh! I think I wore Chris out! Let me check. Posted by Hello

Chris? Did I wear you out? Chris? Posted by Hello

Guess not! Posted by Hello

Will you lift me up hight? Mommy said you'd lift me up high... Posted by Hello

Sometimes it's great to be little! Posted by Hello

A bush in the backyard. There were flowers everywhere...huge blossoms in all different colors. Absolutely beautiful. Posted by Hello

Jaime kept Chris busy and spent a lot of time upside down :) Posted by Hello
