Gory Details
After much ado and a little "Mommy Tiger Mode", I finally pushed the pediatrician (in order in the photo are Dr. Johnson, Dr. Rivas, "Miss Sarah" who's the PA and with the cheesecake pose is Dr. Reidy who's Jaime's doctor and just plain fantastic) to get to the bottom of Jaime's "tummy boo-boos." We're collecting...uh...well...poop to make sure she doesn't have any critters hanging out in her tummy. We had to go to the hospital to have a full blood screen done (Jaime only cried a little when they put the needle in. She's a big, brave girl.) And, Jaime had an upper GI done. She had to fast for 13 hours, no fluids for 5 hours and then drink that nasty barium stuff. I'm willing to bet she's the only person who ever asked for more of the barium stuff. I told her it was chocolate milk, maybe that's why.
The radiologist found that Jaime has moderate to severe reflux. This is pretty serious stuff but at least it's treatable and we now know what's been causing all the crankousness. So, we're on very expensive meds and a special diet, which Auntie Pam found for us.
The day after all the tests, I got a bad scare. The office called and said that Jaime's blood work had come back and she had a very high white blood count. I had to bring her back to the office that day to have another blood test done. My mind was reeling and I'm pretty sure I cut off a lot of people on the way to the office, just because I had my mind on other things. My big, brave girl endured yet another blood test and scammed some treats from the nurses.
Fortunately, the second blood test came back normal but those few hours are something I don't want to have to go through again.
So...without further ado....pictures of the week....

Lest you think Jaime is deprived of toys, this is our dining room and yes, I still have the Christmas tree up.

Hangin' at Ruta Maya
Several people have asked just what this "Ruta Maya" thing is. Well, technically it's a coffee house but that's like saying Howard Hughes was a movie director. It's much more than just a coffee house.
Ruta Maya is very "new age." They have things like Yoga and Pilates and talk a lot about "wellness." It's very popular with the bicyclers. Their coffee is all organic and while it costs about $2 for a large cup, it's excellent coffee and the shows are free so I'll toss in a couple of bucks. Every Sunday morning at or about 10:30 (sometimes earlier, sometimes later, you just never know) they have a show for kids, usually music. The kids are invited to sing and dance and just be kids. Jaime loves it so I love it, too.
There's lots of stuff for kids to do while waiting for the band to start. There's an area with toys and comfy chairs and other kids playing. Please note my funky boots. I picked them out myself.

Having a snack while the band is playing. Note the new pierced ears! I bugged Mommy for weeks to have it done and only cried a little bit. My earrings are just like Mommy's and I picked them out myself.

Hangin' in the Back Yard

Mommy bought me a giant Dora ball. Mommy had to blow it up herself. Mommy said her arms are tired from using the tire pump. I say "If you're going to be dumb, you've got to be tough."

Hmmm...If I stand on the bounce house, maybe I can get to the top of this thing! BTW, I did, promptly giving Mommy another heart attack.

Time to clean up after a big afternoon in the backyard. Can't forget my sparkly, Strawberry Shortcake shoes (I picked them out myself.)

Hangin' with Barney
Much to Mommy's chagrin, I've discovered Barney. Well, really only one Barney episode but I watch it a LOT.
