The dreaded ear infection strikes again. Of course, these things never happen during office hours at the doctor so $100 or so later, we've got some antibiotic to kill off those little nasty ear thingies. Jaime's very sleepy and, while sometimes I wish she'd sleep longer, it's not so much fun when she's obviously sick. She perks up okay when she's awake but she wants to sleep a lot.

Fortunately, it's nasty weather outside and I'm with her, I'd like to sleep a lot, too :) We did make our MacFrugal's trip so Jaime could play with her friend, Beverly. She found a "bike" for sale and was riding it all over the store. I used to wonder why people let their kids do that. Now I know. It's cheaper than buying the thing and there's a lot more room in the store to ride it than there is at home :)

I did buy a really nice "Little Tikes" toybox. It's in a huge box that I'm afraid to open because there's probably "some assembly required" but I did manage to, somehow, lug the thing up the stairs. It's not heavy, just too bulky to get your arms around. Jaime's very excited. Probably for the big box :)

We went to the office while we were waiting for the prescription. There we found Weiping who had been there all night because she was on call with a customer. The customer didn't call but I'd be hard pressed to find a reason to spend the night in the office for no extra pay. That's just not right. I don't think I'd have done that even before Jaime came along. Guess some people are just more dedicated than I am :)

Weiping loves Jaime and wants to babysit. I'm still not comfortable leaving Jaime with someone else and I doubt Jaime would put up with it, either. So they got to play a little, even though Jaime was pretty sleepy and it was pretty one sided playing.

Then we came home and had lunch. Jaime picked Bean with Bacon Soup and a peanut butter sandwich. She loved it. It wouldn't have been a combination I'd have thought of :) Of course, there are now whatever kind of beans those are everywhere.

I've got a few more photos from the birthday party. I took a lot of pictures. That's so unlike me, isn't it? :)

We started off the day with the little party dress which my daughter had to model. What is it about girls and dresses? Put shorts on her, she's a little tomboy but put a dresson her and she's twirling and modeling. It's just plain funny. But, sometimes the tomboy comes out, even with a dress on.

But it turned out she just wanted to get up high so everyone could get the full effect of the dress.

See there, fooled you, Mommy!

Then came some serious hair combing.

Combing her hair is an ordeal. She has to have her own comb or brush (to help) and we have to sing her choice of "Twinkle, Twinkle" or "The ABC Song" and we'd better be done by the time the song is done. Since both songs have the same tune, they take about the same amount of time to sing.

At the birthday party, Jaime started right for the tricycle. It was too big for her but she motored along as best she could.

Then this little girl, threw her the ball so she'd get off the trike and stole it away. I think this may be a future lawyer :)

So Jaime found a more "family oriented" task which was riding in the wagon while Mommy pulled.

But wait! What's that? I know how to ride one of those things!

Mommy, can't you make it go any faster?

Ah, the heck with it...on to better things...

A special hearty congratulations to my nephew, Chris and his new bride! I wish I could be there but I'm with you in spirit. I hope you got your car back.

Well, the baby's still sleeping and it's beginning to worry me. I guess I'd better go check on her. How come they never do this when you want them to?

Okay, I've been bad. I haven't had much time for blogging. It's the end of the month and last month was the end of the quarter at work so I have to go to a billion meetings, finish what I'm supposed to by the end of the month and still find some time to do my real work. Then, of course, there's the Mommy thing. So, I apologize but I'm trying :)

Jaime and I went to her first, ever birthday party on Saturday. Emily, the birthday girl, turned three years old. We met Emily at the park one day with her mother and it turns out she's also from Kazakhstan, though she's from Almaty. So, of course, we started talking and whenever we're there at the same time, the girls play together.

The theme for Emily's party was "Under the Sea". Emily's mother put out a little blow up pool and some magnetic fish, thinking the kids would go fishing. And they did.

Next came the buckets for watering the tomato plants, of course. It should probably be noted that we had already had heavy rain both the night before and that morning. I'm betting the tomato plants are pretty well done for.

Sometimes you just have to use the shovels...those buckets get really heavy when you fill them with water.

Then, the attraction of the water just got to be too much for the kids

Then things got really silly...

And the birthday girl ended up taking the "Under the Sea" theme just a little too seriously

But a good time was had by all. I think it should also be noted that the little girl in the gingham dress did not end up having to change into her extra outfit that day. While we did have to take off her shoes, she didn't pile in with the rest of the kids. Thank goodness. What a good girl she is.

Jaime ended up with a lot of firsts that day. Her first dog bite (no, it wasn't serious but Mommy was plenty upset that the dogs were there to bite), her first ever running around in the grass in her bare feet, her first birthday cake, and, i suspect, the first time she's ever been around that many people. I think there must have been around 50 people at the party, including Moms, Dads and Uncles.

I'll try to post more tomorrow. I figure there's enough pictures here today to bog down anyone looking :)
